She's worked for numerous top media organizations around the world. She covered football, basketball as well as Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols was a reporter for nine years during her time at ESPN where she was awarded the two Emmy Awards, and featured in a variety of ESPN's most popular programs, including NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Also, she was a one of the networks' Monday Night Football broadcasts as reporter on the sidelines. She then moved to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded with Rachel Nichols was the first show she created and hosted. The show aired on CNN International and CNN. The show had over a billion viewers worldwide. Nichols covered NBA television broadcasts for TNT which included the playoffs, regular season and All-Star broadcasts. Her work for TBS covered golf and baseball coverage, and Final Four broadcasts by CBS. This is only the second nomination in 42 years of the award for a female among more than 200 nominated contenders.
