Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - an Canadian and American singer/songwriter. She has released over 20 albums of studio work. Her music is categorized as alternative rock, folk rock, but it also has hints of jazz and hip-hop. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, and was among the first musicians to launch her own record label in the year 1990. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother comes from Montreal. The song by Ani, 32 Flavors, was composed by her and sung by Ani. This song was released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. A version of the song is featured on the film Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was announced that she would be hosting a three day workshop at the Louisiana plantation for slaves. Although she cancelled the workshop, many people (including our own paper) did not see any regret. DiFranco made a retraction apology just a few days later than the initial. Although she's known as Little Peoplesinger, she's been in contact with a myriad of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. The place she lives is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. By 14 she was singing her own tunes. She sang them in bars and in coffee shops all through her teens. DiFranco completed her studies at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school at 16 and started attending the classes of Buffalo State College. Ani's new baritone guitar is an original guitar that Alvarez built following a series of consultations with me and Chrys Johnson, who was the artist rep for Alvarez at the time. It is an System 600 guitar with solid woods - cedar on top, mahogany for the back and sides, as well as ebony on the fretboard. Her residence is New Orleans. There she lives with her husband, kids and her long-legged sidekick Lefty. DiFranco has been thirty years into her career says that looking back at the past has caused her to have mixed emotions. Ani DiFranco is a singer, songwriter and punk/folk performer who was only 25 at the time she dropped her 7th album Not A Pretty Girl and achieved even more success in the public through Dilate. "Brandy" (You're a Fine Girl) by American Pop Rock band Looking Glass is from the album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie, the lead guitarist of Looking Glass and co-vocalist wrote the song.
